Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Sunday stopped his motorcade to assist victims of a road traffic accident at Otonglo near the Molasses Plant in Kisumu.
The Cabinet Secretary was travelling from Rarieda to Kisumu International Airport when the accident occurred.
“On our way from the function to Kisumu Airport, there was a small accident. All the patients belong to me,” he said.

“I had to tell my team, ‘Let us help the patients and make sure they are taken to the hospital.’”
According to the Ministry of Health, the CS immediately mobilised an emergency medical response at the scene, coordinating rescue efforts to assist the injured.
More than 19 victims were evacuated and rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for urgent treatment.
However, two people were confirmed dead at the scene, while another victim succumbed to injuries while being transported to hospital.
Emergency responders, local authorities and medical teams worked quickly to assist the victims and ensure those injured received prompt medical attention.
The Ministry of Health has since conveyed its condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and wished a quick recovery to those currently receiving treatment.
The CS had earlier attended the Thanksgiving ceremony of the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, held at Okela Primary School in Siaya County.
President William Ruto was among those in attendance at the ceremony.
