The arrest followed weeks of investigations into attacks that left several families traumatised and resulted in the death of a resident who responded to one of the incidents
The suspect, identified as Ouma Dibogo Obobo, a resident of Migori County, was taken into custody and escorted to Busia Police Station alongside the recovered exhibits as detectives continue with investigations
The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals identified as Bernard Ouma, Thomas Onyango Ouma and Walter Owa, also known as Teddy Obul
The DCI also urged security commanders to intensify their investigative work and make optimal use of available resources
Under the new framework, police commanders will be expected to closely monitor political activities in their areas, identify groups likely to cause disruptions and take action before incidents escalate into violence.
Investigators said the incident happened at the victim’s shop in the Delta area of Mwihoko Township in Mwihoko, where a disagreement between the couple escalated into a violent confrontation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission said the attack on a gathering convened to discuss the national budget violated the rights to freedom of worship, expression, association and peaceful assembly guaranteed under the Constitution.
