The Mumias East MP also questioned why Sifuna was still challenging his removal from office despite the decision having been endorsed by ODM's National Executive Committee (NEC).
The Mumias East MP also questioned why Sifuna was still challenging his removal from office despite the decision having been endorsed by ODM's National Executive Committee (NEC).
Despite their reservations, Sifuna said several of the legislators have assured him that they intend to formally join the movement when they believe the political environment is more favourable.
Njoroge argued that Sifuna has grown into a political figure whose influence now stretches beyond internal party structures, making him resilient to internal disciplinary moves.
The ODM Central Management Committee backed the NEC decision to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as Secretary-General. Leaders aligned to the Linda Mwananchi movement say the decision is unconstitutional and plan to challenge it in court.
Linda Mwananchi says it has postponed planned Kisii and Keroka rallies to July 3 to allow supporters to join nationwide commemorations for victims of the 2024 Gen‑Z protests. The statement also called for safeguards during commemorations and questioned the approach to compensation.
In resolutions released following a meeting held at Chungwa House in Nairobi on Monday, ODM said the decision followed an internal disciplinary process that examined complaints against the Nairobi senator in his capacity as Secretary General.
The MP questioned the visibility of the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has been associated with Sifuna and Babu Owino, saying it has not created a strong presence in the city.
Kang'ata's remarks come days after he publicly declared support for the movement during a major rally held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Kivulini Grounds in Thika town, Kiambu County, marking his first public appearance under the Linda Mwananchi banner.
Under the new arrangements, Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama joins the ICT Committee, replacing Senator Beatrice Akinyi Ogolla, while Senator Abdul Mohamed Haji has been assigned to the Energy Committee, also replacing Senator Beatrice Akinyi Ogolla
Sifuna said the reduction comes at a time when Nairobi is under pressure to deliver services such as health, roads, and waste management, all of which require steady funding due to the city’s growing population and demands.
Without directly calling for Sifuna’s removal, McOure said public criticism from senior officials risks weakening party unity and creating confusion among supporters.
He maintained that this structure helped establish Sifuna as a visible youth-focused figure within the party’s internal reform agenda
