High Court declines bid to force Parliament to enact MP recall law

Justice Roselyne Aburili held that the constitutional right to recall elected leaders under Article 104(1) of the Constitution is not self-executing and can only be implemented through an Act of Parliament, saying the courts should allow the legislative process to run its course without interference.

No one will be spared, IEBC warns as political violence rises

The Elections Act and the Electoral Code of Conduct bar candidates and political parties from engaging in, supporting or promoting violence. Where violations occur, the commission can issue warnings, impose fines, limit campaign activities and, in severe cases, recommend the removal of candidates from the ballot after due process.

MPs seek full list of law firms behind IEBC’s Sh3.77 billion bills

According to the Auditor-General’s findings, IEBC has pending bills amounting to Sh3.77 billion. The report indicates that Sh2.66 billion relates to legal fees, while Sh1.11 billion is owed for goods and services supplied to the commission. Out of the total amount, Sh173.26 million was accumulated during the year under review.
