Kenya Animal Genetic Resources Centre (KAGRC) appeared before PICS-SAA as MPs reviewed Auditor-General audit queries on land documentation, procurement, and banking arrangements. KAGRC cited transition challenges after its 2011 shift to a state corporation and agreed to accelerate reforms, including digitisation.
According to the audit findings, the college recorded spending on goods and services amounting to Sh15,691,282, with Sh5,948,284 processed through cash transactions that went beyond the allowed threshold of Sh50,000 per item per year under the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Regulations, 2020.
Public hearings are scheduled to begin on May 13, 2026, and will be held in several counties, giving residents an opportunity to present their views directly to the Budget and Appropriations Committee.
A number of projects came under review during the sitting, including the Water for Household Project Phase II in Mwatate, Kerwa Dam rehabilitation in Mbeere South, Kathanje Earth Dam in Tharaka Nithi, and the Iganjo/Silanga Water Pan in Murang’a.

The House was told that Kenya records about 44,000 new cancer cases every year, with over 29,000 deaths, with breast, cervical, and prostate cancers being the most common.
