Speaking during the 59th Administration Police Recruits Passing-Out Parade at the National Police College, Embakasi ‘A’ Campus in Nairobi on Friday, Murkomen said investment in police officers was critical because human resources remained the most important component of national security
The President maintained that these constitutional requirements should guide officers in their daily interactions with members of the public, including during arrests, investigations, crowd management and conflict resolution
The CS made the remarks during the 59th Administration Police Recruits Passing-Out Parade at the National Police College, Embakasi ‘A’ Campus in Nairobi on Friday, where he explained that the officers had completed nine months of training and were entering a service whose effectiveness depended on discipline, integrity and public trust
The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said training remains at the centre of police reforms and is key to building a disciplined and professional service capable of responding to the country’s changing security needs.
Ruto laid a wreath at the National Police College in memory of the officers who lost their lives while serving under the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti.
The reforms come as the National Police Service continues to face demands for more officers, improved infrastructure and modern equipment
Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli reminded the officers that passing out was not the end of their preparation but the start of their professional responsibilities.
IPOA told the court that the officers had failed to comply with an earlier order requiring them to give their accounts, prompting the authority to seek another directive to compel them to appear and record their statements.
TThe support was provided through the British High Commission under the East Africa Border Security Programme (BSP), a multi-year initiative funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
The NPS said its Anti-Abduction Unit, which was established to address abductions and disappearances, was actively investigating the matter.
