Harambee Stars stay put in latest FIFA rankings

Kenya’s Harambee Stars have remained 109th in the latest FIFA World Rankings following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite making some notable improvements in recent months.

According to world football governing body FIFA, Kenya retained its position with 1,185.08 points, missing out on an opportunity to climb the rankings as several nations benefited from strong performances at the World Cup.

The recently concluded North American tournament triggered major changes among Africa’s leading football nations. Morocco moved up one place to sixth in the world, remaining Africa’s highest-ranked side, while Senegal dropped three places to 18th overall.

Egypt were among the biggest movers after their controversial elimination by finalists Argentina in the round of 16, rising five places to 24th and becoming Africa’s third-highest-ranked nation behind Morocco and Senegal.

Against this backdrop of global movement, Kenya’s failure to improve its position leaves Harambee Stars outside the world’s top 100 and behind several African rivals.

Benni McCarthy’s side remain 19 places behind Zambia, who are ranked 90th and continue to be among the continent’s highest-ranked teams.
