Suspected drug trafficker arrested in Molo, cannabis worth Sh1 million recovered

Police have arrested a 45-year-old suspected drug trafficker and recovered cannabis worth more than Sh1 million during a dawn raid in Munju area, Molo, Nakuru County.

The suspect, identified as Eric Asande Albert, was arrested on Sunday in a joint operation by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) based in Molo and officers from Molo Police Station.

During the raid, officers searched his house and recovered a stash of cannabis, including one full sack, 55 five-kilogram blue carrier bags packed with the drug, and another half-filled sack.

Police said the seized cannabis weighed 35.7 kilograms.

"The total haul, weighing 35.7 kilograms with a street value of Sh1,071,000, was secured and detained as exhibits," DCI said.

Albert is being held at Molo Police Station as detectives finalise investigations ahead of his arraignment in court.

Meanwhile, in Migori County, police arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered rolls of suspected cannabis sativa during a patrol in the Pap Rombe area of Nyatike Sub-County.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Macalder Police Station intercepted the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle while carrying a suspicious sack. The rider allegedly ignored orders to stop, prompting a brief chase before he was arrested.

A search of the sack uncovered several rolls of a substance concealed in clothing and suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The suspect is being held at Macalder Police Station pending arraignment, while the recovered motorcycle and suspected narcotics have been detained as exhibits.

Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking, narcotics, and illicit brews in the region.
