In its latest advisory, the department said areas across western, central and coastal regions should prepare for rainfall amounts surpassing 20 millimetres within 24 hours between March 3 and March 9, 2026.
According to the department, rainfall above 20mm per day will persist over the Lake Victoria Basin and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley until March 3.
Regions most at risk include the Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Central Highlands—including Nairobi—and South-Eastern Lowlands, where heavy to very heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters is expected.

Rainfall is expected to persist in western and central Kenya, including Nairobi, and across the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley, while northern counties are likely to remain dry.
