The family of Siyat Abdi Omar is still waiting for answers weeks after he reportedly disappeared in Garissa County, prompting Ijara MP Abdi Ali to ask Parliament to press the government for an explanation and details of efforts to find him.

Omar was allegedly abducted by people believed to be members of the security forces in Sarirah Location, Hulugho Sub-County, on September 27, 2026. His whereabouts remain unknown despite efforts by relatives and members of the local community to trace him.

In a statement request presented to the National Assembly on Thursday, Ali asked the Chairperson of the Committee on Administration and Internal Security to explain what the authorities know about the incident and provide an update on the police investigation.

The MP said the family had been left without official information about the circumstances surrounding Omar’s disappearance or any clear account of the steps being taken to establish where he is.

The incident was reported at Hulugho Police Station under Occurrence Book No. 02/30/09/26, according to the request submitted to the Speaker of the National Assembly.

“Despite widespread efforts by his family and community to trace him, Omar’s whereabouts remain unknown,” Ali stated.

The legislator said the lack of information from security agencies had added to the family’s distress as it continued to search for the missing man.

“The incident has left his family in profound distress, uncertainty, and anguish,” the statement reads.

Ali further questioned the progress made in the investigations, saying the family had not received official communication on the case or information that could help establish what happened to Omar.

“Unfortunately, as of today, there has been little progress in the investigation, with the family yet to receive any official updates or information from security agencies regarding the circumstances of his abduction or his current whereabouts,” Ali stated. The family of Siyat Abdi Omar is still waiting for answers weeks after he reportedly disappeared in Garissa County, prompting Ijara MP Abdi Ali to ask Parliament to press the government for an explanation and details of efforts to find him.
