AK, AIU and Government of Kenya launch app to manage athletes

Athletics Kenya (AK), in partnership with the Government of Kenya and the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), has launched an application dubbed Riadha Connect, a digital platform aimed at transforming athlete management in the country.

Speaking during the launch on Wednesday at Eldoret Sports Club, AK President Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Jack Tuwei said the platform will help manage athletics activities and services while reducing paperwork.

Tuwei said the federation will use the system for personnel management, competition administration, performance monitoring, training camp oversight, and other operations.

"The system will revolutionize the management of athletics by providing a centralized digital platform for athlete and coach registration, licensing, competition management, communication and access to key athletics services," said Tuwei.

He added that the platform will strengthen governance by providing transparent digital management of relationships between athletes and their support personnel.

National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) Vice President Barnaba Korir, who also serves as AK Director of Youth Development, said the platform comes with responsibilities and urged athletes and stakeholders to remain compliant.

"The platform will enhance efficiency, transparency, accountability and integrity while making it easier for athletes, coaches, officials and stakeholders to interact with Athletics Kenya," Korir said.

AIU Head of Testing and Compliance Thomas Capdevielle said Riadha Connect will strengthen the credibility of Kenyan athletics, describing it as a global benchmark for integrity.

He added that the platform will improve coordination between the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), Athletics Kenya, and the AIU by creating a reliable source of athlete management information.
