One more suspect has been arrested in connection with the deadly violence and destruction witnessed during the UDA delegates’ meeting at Nembure Grounds in Embu on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in a statement on September 14, 2026, said the suspect was arrested today in Kithimu, Embu, during a coordinated operation by detectives from the DCI Headquarters Operations Support Team and the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Branch.
The arrest comes as detectives intensify efforts to identify and apprehend other people suspected of taking part in the violence.
The DCI says all those involved in the unrest, regardless of their motive or political affiliation, will be identified, arrested and brought to justice.
The arrest comes after two suspects were apprehended on Sunday over the violence.
According to the DCI, one person was killed, several police officers injured, and several vehicles torched during the violence, as groups of youths engaged security officers in running battles before order was restored.
“Two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the incident,” the DCI said in a statement.
The agency said investigations were continuing, with detectives pursuing additional suspects linked to what it described as criminal acts committed during the unrest.
The DCI warned that political differences should not be used to justify violence or other criminal activity.
“Political differences must never become a licence for lawlessness,” the agency said.
“No grievance, disagreement or political affiliation places anyone above the law,” it added.
The agency said those involved in attacks, arson, destruction of property, blocking public roads or assaulting police officers would be pursued and brought to justice.
