An alleged cyberattack disrupted the official State House website after unknown hackers defaced its homepage and replaced government content with messages targeting President William Ruto while demanding a Bitcoin ransom worth about Sh41 million.
Users accessing president.go.ke were met with altered pages instead of the official State House information, with the attackers leaving behind demeaning messages directed at the President.
The hackers are reportedly seeking payment in Bitcoin equivalent to around Sh41 million.
The latest incident comes after previous cases in which government websites and official information portals were breached by cybercriminals.
By the time of publication, State House was yet to comment on the alleged cyberattack or the reported ransom demand.
