IEBC opens recruitment for seven senior director positions

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has launched a fresh recruitment drive for seven senior director positions as it moves to strengthen its leadership team ahead of future electoral activities.

The vacancies cover some of the commission's most important departments, including voter education, finance, corporate communications, human resources, research and electoral boundaries. Applications will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the commission called on qualified, experienced, result-oriented and highly motivated individuals to apply for the positions through its online recruitment platform. It also encouraged women, youth, persons with disabilities and candidates from marginalized communities to submit their applications.

The available positions are Director of Voter Education and Partnerships, Director of Research, Electoral Boundaries and Risk Management, Director of Human Resources and Administration, Director of Internal Audit and Compliance, Director of Finance, Director of Corporate Communications, and Director of Counties and Constituencies Coordination.

Each department has one vacancy, with all the positions classified under Job Grade Three.

"The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is seeking suitably qualified, experienced, result-oriented and highly motivated individuals to fill the following vacant positions: Director, Voter Education and Partnerships; Director, Research, Electoral Boundaries and Risk Management; Director, Human Resources and Administration; Director, Internal Audit and Compliance; Director, Finance; Director, Corporate Communications; and Director, Counties and Constituencies Coordination."

The recruitment is being handled by JKUAT Enterprises Limited (JKUATES), a state corporation wholly owned by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology that provides research, consultancy, training and recruitment services to both public and private sector institutions.

Candidates have been asked to submit their applications electronically through the official recruitment platform, where detailed job descriptions and application instructions have been provided.

"To view the detailed job descriptions for the roles and a guide on how to apply, please log on to the e-recruitment platform. Applicants must upload a signed application letter, a detailed Curriculum Vitae indicating current and previous employers, positions held, and the names of at least three professional referees, a National Identity Card, and copies of all academic and professional certificates."

The commission said all applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2026, after which the recruitment portal will be closed.

IEBC added that the hiring process will be competitive and only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage.

"Applications are to be received not later than Tuesday, August 17, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted."

The commission also reaffirmed its commitment to equal employment opportunities, urging qualified candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

"JKUATES and IEBC are equal opportunity employers. Youth, women, persons with disabilities and candidates from marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Canvassing, falsifying, or misrepresenting qualifications will result in automatic disqualification."

The recruitment forms part of the commission's efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity by filling senior management positions responsible for voter education, electoral boundaries management, financial oversight, internal audit, human resources, corporate communications, and coordination of county and constituency operations.
