Eight candidates have so far declared their intention to run in Kenya’s 2027 presidential election.
They include President William Ruto and former Chief Justice David Maraga, who at the time of going to press declared that he has officially entered the 2027 presidential race, running on the United Green Movement (UGM) Party ticket.
His announcement was made on Thursday at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi, marking a major shift from his years in the judiciary to active politics.
