Jambojet has confirmed that flight JM 8650 from Nairobi to Kisumu aborted takeoff early Sunday after the aircraft experienced a system caution alert shortly before departure, prompting the crew to halt the takeoff as a safety precaution.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the airline said the incident occurred at approximately 6:00am on flight JM 8650, which was being operated by aircraft registration 5Y-JXL.
According to Jambojet, the aircraft developed a system caution alert before takeoff, leading the flight crew to discontinue the departure in line with standard safety procedures.
"At approximately 0600hrs today, flight JM 8650, operated on 5Y-JXL from Nairobi to Kisumu experienced a system caution alert before takeoff and as a safety precautionary measure, takeoff was aborted," the airline said.
Jambojet said all passengers and crew members safely disembarked from the aircraft following the aborted takeoff and were assisted by ground staff.
"We can confirm all the guests and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft, and received the necessary assistance from our team on ground," the statement added.
No injuries were reported, and the airline did not indicate how many passengers were on board or whether alternative travel arrangements had been made for those affected.
Jambojet apologised to passengers for the disruption caused by the incident, saying safety remains its overriding priority.
"We sincerely apologize for the distress and inconvenience this incident may have caused and assure that the safety and well-being of our guests and crew remain our top priority," the airline said.
