Political leaders have rallied around Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale after the sudden death of his wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, with messages of comfort pouring in as the family comes to terms with the loss.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among the leaders who expressed solidarity with Khalwale following Gloria’s death on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Sifuna, who heads the Linda Mwananchi movement that Khalwale recently joined, assured the senator that he was standing with him during the difficult period.
“Omwami @DrBKhalwale pole sana for your loss. May God comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Khulialala Omwami. May her soul rest in peace,” Sifuna said.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa also sent his condolences to the senator, his family and friends, describing Gloria’s death as a sudden loss.
“I extend my sincere condolences to Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale following the sudden passing of his wife, Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale. My thoughts are with Senator Khalwale, his family and friends during this difficult time. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” Barasa stated.
Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who serves as treasurer of Linda Mwananchi, said he received the news of Gloria’s death with shock and sadness.
Osotsi said Gloria died after suffering a heart attack on Saturday morning, describing her death as a painful loss for the Khalwale family, friends and people who knew her.
“It is with profound shock and sorrow that I have received the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Mrs Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale, wife of Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale, following a heart attack this morning. Her untimely demise is a great loss to her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
“During this difficult moment, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Dr Khalwale, their children and the entire Khalwale family. I pray that God grants them strength, comfort and courage as they come to terms with this painful loss.
“On behalf of the people of Vihiga County and my family, I join the nation in mourning her passing and pray that her soul rests in eternal peace. May the Almighty grant the bereaved family comfort and solace during this period of grief.”
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka also sent his condolences to Khalwale and his family following Gloria’s unexpected death. Wamboka recently endorsed Khalwale for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat.
“My heartfelt condolences to our senior brother Dr Boni Khalwale, CBS, following the sudden passing of his beloved wife Mama Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale. Her unexpected death is a devastating loss, and at such a painful moment, we mourn with Senator Khalwale, his family, relatives and friends, and pray that God grants them strength and comfort.
“As LINDA Mwananchi, we stand firmly with our senior brother and mentor, Senator Boni Khalwale, during this darkest hour. May the Almighty comfort the Khalwale family, give them strength to endure this painful moment, and grant Mama Gloria eternal rest.”
Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, who chairs the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee, was also among the leaders who mourned Gloria and conveyed his sympathies to Khalwale.
The condolence messages come at a difficult moment for Khalwale, who has recently taken an active role in the Linda Mwananchi movement and Western Kenya politics.
Leaders who sent messages of support urged the family to remain strong as they deal with the sudden loss of Gloria.
