ODM confirms Jamhuri Grounds venue for March 27 delegates convention

ODM says preparations for its March 27 Special Delegates Convention at Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi are nearly complete, with legal notices issued and delegates notified for the key decision-making meeting.

Jamhuri Grounds has been confirmed as the venue for the upcoming Orange Democratic Movement Special Delegates Convention, with the party announcing that preparations for the high-level meeting are nearly complete ahead of the March 27, 2026 event in Nairobi.

In a press statement released on Thursday, Orange Democratic Movement said it has stepped up logistical and organisational plans to ensure the convention runs smoothly, noting that delegates from across the country are expected to attend.

The party emphasised that all legal requirements had been met in convening the meeting, including issuing a formal notice within the required timelines.

It said the notification process was carried out in line with both the law and the party’s constitution.

“As you are aware, a 21-day NOTICE for this special meeting of the party delegates was published in the local dailies and also posted on the party website and social media forums on Friday, March 6, 2026 as required by the law and the Constitution of the party,” ODM said.

It further clarified that the notice issued earlier in March is the only official communication regarding the convention, addressing internal procedures on how such meetings are called.

“This is the only NOTICE that was given by the party for the intentions of holding the convention. It suffices to note that, the Party Leader does not sign any NOTICE for party meetings, let alone, one for a Special Delegates Convention,” the statement added.

ODM said it has since been carrying out a range of preparatory activities guided by the agenda outlined in the notice, with the process now at an advanced stage as the date approaches.

“Ever since this was done, we have been engaged in a series of activities in preparation for this day whose agenda was contained in the NOTICE,” the party said.

With just a week to go, the party assured members and the public that everything is on track, confirming that delegates have already received details of the meeting and its agenda.

“We have one week left to the event and wish to inform our members and the general public that preparations are in top gear, delegates have been duly informed of the meeting and its agenda,” the statement said.

The party confirmed that the convention will take place at Jamhuri Grounds along Ngong Road in Nairobi, a venue known for hosting major political gatherings in the capital.

ODM also reiterated its commitment to its founding principles, describing the convention as part of its internal democratic processes that guide decision-making within the party.

“As a party, we are committed to the values that it is founded on, our principles are supreme and the ideology of the party continues to guide us. We shall continue to uphold these societal norms,” the statement said.

The party extended a welcome to delegates expected to travel from different regions to attend the meeting.

“To all our delegates, KARIBU NAIROBI. ODM Tuko Tayari,” the statement concluded.

The Special Delegates Convention remains one of the party’s top decision-making organs and is expected to influence its direction going forward.

While the full agenda was not outlined in the latest update, ODM said the details had already been provided in the earlier notice issued at the beginning of March.

The statement was signed by Catherine Omanyo, the party’s Deputy Secretary General, on March 19, 2026, reaffirming ODM’s readiness to host the convention in line with legal and constitutional requirements.
