Ol Kalou Constituency has a new representative in the National Assembly after Sammy Douglas Waweru Kamau was sworn in as Member of Parliament following his victory in the July 16, 2026, by-election.
Waweru officially assumed office on Tuesday in the National Assembly after taking the Oath of Office and signing the Oath Register. He was accompanied by Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia and Roysambu MP Augustine Kamande Mwafrika.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of David Njuguna Kiaraho in March 2026 after a short illness. Kiaraho was serving his third term in Parliament.
Kamau, who contested the seat on a Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket, won the by-election with 35,440 votes.
A native of Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County, Kamau attended AC Primary School in the Karau/Kaimbaga area before joining Utumishi Boys High School. He later earned a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nairobi.
Kamau entered elective politics in 2013 when he was elected the inaugural Member of County Assembly for Karau Ward on a TNA/DP ticket. Before his election to Parliament, he served as the Democracy for Citizens Party coordinator for Nyandarua County, leading grassroots party mobilisation.
Kamau will serve the remainder of the 13th Parliament until the next General Election, scheduled for August 2027.
The lawmaker took to his social media pages to reflect on his new role, saying he was ready to serve.
"And finally, I have taken the Oath of Office to serve the patriotic people of Ol Kalou Constituency. So help me God," Waweru wrote.
