Speaking Monday in Nairobi at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting, President Ruto urged African governments to take primary responsibility for health financing and reforms, warning donor dependence and fragmented systems are weakening resilience.

While addressing residents, the President called for calm and national cohesion, warning against leaders who promote ethnic divisions for political gain. He said unity remains key to national stability and progress, insisting that Kenyans must protect it at all costs.
Central Regional Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha said security and coordination teams have already visited and assessed all the project sites set for the Head of State’s tour, assuring residents that everything is in place for a smooth programme
He argued that the current administration is working to build a unified nation where no group is left behind, emphasising that citizenship and access to government services must not be determined by ethnicity or regional identity.
The President said the government has embarked on a wide-ranging development agenda focused on energy, transport, agriculture and education to integrate the region more fully into the national economy.
Ruto said his administration is working to correct “60 years of neglect”, adding that northern Kenya should receive the same level of attention and access to government programmes as other parts of the country.
The Bill was sponsored by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, acting on a request from the Executive to ease the burden on consumers. Lawmakers moved it through all stages within a single day, pointing to the urgency of stabilising fuel costs and preventing further economic strain.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati welcomed the projects, saying they are expected to open up economic activity and improve livelihoods for residents, especially traders and young people.
Methu also addressed criticism over comments he made during a public event in Ol Kalou, where he stated that leaders should not be expected to show unquestioned loyalty to the President, arguing that the Constitution clearly outlines Parliament’s oversight role.
Addressing residents and stakeholders during the event, the President said the government is focused on growing sports by improving facilities and giving local teams the support they need to compete effectively.
Methu further stated that even if given another chance, he would not change his words, saying he stands by the message he delivered publicly.
