Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior stole the headlines at the death as Brazil beat Colombia 2-1 Thursday in the 2026 World Cup Qualifying.

Vinicius struck a dramatic winner in the ninth minute of stoppage time to give Brazil a 2-1 win over a determined Colombia, whose Liverpool star Luis Diaz scored a wonderful goal on the night.

The five-time world champions took a sixth-minute lead in the capital Brasilia through a Raphinha penalty to grant the home side a barely deserved lead.

However, Diaz's fine 41st-minute strike for Colombia leveled the game.

Away side Colombia enjoyed the better of the second half and could have taken the lead but for smart goalkeeping from Brazil keeper Alisson.

However, they were ultimately sunk by the Real Madrid winger's dramatic winner.

The victory leaves Brazil firmly in second place in the 10-team Conmebol qualifying group, four points behind leaders Argentina who travel to Uruguay on Friday.

Brazil have 21 points, Argentina 25. Uruguay and Paraguay are tied on 20 points. Chile are bottom with only nine points.
