Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion is on course to join the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) after President William Ruto nominated him to serve as a commissioner in the latest changes affecting constitutional commissions and government offices.
A statement from the Executive Office of the President dated Tuesday, July 21, 2026, shows that Sossion was nominated alongside Antonina Lentoijoni to serve as members of the commission.
Their names have been submitted to Parliament for consideration and approval as required by the Constitution and the relevant laws.
The TSC nominations were announced as part of a wider list of appointments, promotions and redeployments approved by the President.
The same communication also named seven people for appointment to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), with their appointments awaiting ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit.
“Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act,” the statement read.
Those nominated are Wilson Kuria Thuita of Murang’a, Silvia C. Apaa of Busia, Ahmed Kanyara Bishar of Wajir, Pascalyne Ntang’en Kimkirir of Laikipia, Ken Riaga of Migori, Evalyn Njekuri Abausa of Nakuru and Mary Ndiritu Kiloi of Nairobi.
The latest changes also include a number of promotions and redeployments within the Executive that were approved by the Public Service Commission.
Isaac M. Mwaura was promoted and redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President.
Charles Owino Wahong’o, who previously served in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, was redeployed to the Executive Office of the President as Acting Head of Government Communications and Government Spokesperson.
“The Head of State and Government also nominated seven individuals for appointment as members of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act. The nominees are Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a), Silvia C. Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang’en Kimkirir (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Njekuri Abausa (Nakuru) and Mary Ndiritu Kiloi (Nairobi).”
The appointments announced on Tuesday also include the nomination of Dr Duncan Ojwang Oburu as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), while Flora Mutua has been nominated to serve as a member of the Public Service Commission.
