Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka fires entire County Cabinet with immediate effect

The Governor assured residents that administrative measures have been put in place to guarantee that there is no disruption in essential services during the transition.

Governor Ken Lusaka has dismissed all members of the Bungoma County Executive Committee, including the County Secretary and County Attorney, in a sweeping reorganization aimed at improving governance and service delivery.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Governor Lusaka cited his constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance as the basis for the decision.

“This decision has been taken in good faith and in the broader public interest, to facilitate the efficient functioning of County Government and to uphold the integrity of its institutions,” the statement read.

The move comes under section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, which allows governors to reorganize their executive teams to enhance performance and accountability.

The Governor assured residents that administrative measures have been put in place to guarantee that there is no disruption in essential services during the transition.

“The County Government remains committed to continuity of services. Appropriate administrative measures have been put in place to ensure that the great people of our county do not experience any disruption in service delivery,” Lusaka added.

Governor Lusaka expressed appreciation for the service rendered by the outgoing officers, while reaffirming his commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law, and due process.

“We are grateful to the affected officers for their dedication. This reorganization is not punitive but seeks to strengthen our institutions and align them with our service delivery objectives,” he said.

The Governor’s office has indicated that further communication regarding interim arrangements and subsequent appointments will follow in due course.

This decision marks one of the most significant administrative reshuffles in Bungoma County in recent years, signaling Governor Lusaka’s intent to consolidate his team and accelerate the county’s development agenda.

As the county awaits announcements on replacements, the public and stakeholders are being urged to exercise patience while the process unfolds within the framework of the law.
