Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday, Kaluma accused the opposition leaders of recruiting and deploying what he described as “dreaded thugs and hardcore criminals” to attack residents during the rally.
In a statement titled “Beyond the Dust: Homa Bay's Long Road from Marginalisation to Transformation,” the governor said the condition of the Mbita–Sindo–Kiabuya–Sori corridor should not be used to judge the people of the county.
Muturi said every Kenyan has the right to move freely, engage with fellow citizens and participate in political activities regardless of political affiliation
Officers escorting the motorcade intervened to clear the road and allow the convoy to proceed, amid heightened tensions surrounding the movement's planned rallies in the county
The alleged attack came amid heightened political tensions in parts of Homa Bay County ahead of the Linda Mwananchi rally, which has attracted significant political attention
Kaluma has previously argued that ODM should receive a substantial share of government positions if it reaches a political agreement with UDA, citing the party’s national support base and political strength
Miguna, however, rejected the idea that Ruto’s study of zoology explains his performance as president or that replacing him with a lawyer would automatically produce better leadership
Odhiambo said political disagreements should not be allowed to escalate into violence or ethnic mobilisation, calling on political actors to respect the rule of law
The Homa Bay visit is the latest stop in the Linda Mwananchi movement’s nationwide civic and political engagement campaign, which has taken Sifuna and other opposition figures to different parts of the country
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was among the leaders who expressed solidarity with Khalwale following Gloria’s death on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Sifuna, who heads the Linda Mwananchi movement that Khalwale recently joined, assured the senator that he was standing with him during the difficult period.
Manyora suggested that Sifuna would probably not have broken away from ODM if Ida had taken charge, saying their relationship would not have developed into the kind of disagreement he has had with Oburu.
