Volleyball: Kenya Cup finals head to Nairobi this weekend

After a thrilling national first-tier volleyball league finals that saw Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) crowned the men’s and women’s 2025/2026 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league champions respectively last weekend, attention now shifts to the second edition of the Kenya Cup at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani.

Speaking to Radio Generation about the tournament, federation vice president Paul Bitok highlighted its importance, saying that more competitions for Kenyan players would benefit both clubs and the national team.

"It’s a back-to-back scenario whereby clubs will be sprinting to the finish line, and only the best of the best will be crowned winners. This time round, competitions have brought out the best in players, and clubs are busy releasing and recruiting players, something that was not happening before," Bitok said.

The second edition of the Kenya Cup will be held from Friday, July 24, to Sunday, July 26, with matches starting as early as 10:00 am.

In the men’s category, Prisons will take on Administration Police Kenya (APK) in quarter-final three, while National League finalists Chema will face Kenya Airports Police Unit (KAPU) in quarter-final four.

General Service Unit (GSU) will battle Equity, while national league champions KPA will face Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in the other quarter-finals.

The women’s category will begin with the semi-finals, having completed their quarter-finals at Nyayo National Stadium before last weekend’s national league finals.

On Saturday, July 25, national league champions KPC will face DCI at 10:00 am.

Prisons Kenya, who lost the national finals to KPC, will seek redemption when they take on a resurgent Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in the afternoon.

Later on Saturday, the men’s semi-finals will be played, with the first match scheduled for 2:00 pm and the second at 4:00 pm.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday at the same venue, with the third-place playoffs taking place before the finals in the afternoon.
