Paul Ng’eno, the brother of the late former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, has died at a hospital in Eldoret, hours after DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua pledged to clear his Sh1.8 million medical bill.
Ng’eno died on Friday evening after his condition deteriorated while undergoing treatment. His death was confirmed on Saturday, August 22, by Bernard Ngeno, alias Arap Buluu, who served as personal assistant to the late Johana Ng’eno.
Arap Buluu conveyed his condolences to the family, with special mention of their mother, Mama Mary Tamas, as the family comes to terms with the death.
“I convey my message of condolences to the family of Arap Temas, for the loss of Paul Ngeno, who was brother to the late Hon. Johana Ngeno. We say pole to mama Mary and the whole family,” he stated.
Ng’eno had been receiving medical attention after his condition worsened, with his hospital stay resulting in a bill of Sh1.8 million.
His death came just hours after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited the family and pledged to settle the outstanding hospital bill.
Gachagua said he had spoken to Ng’eno’s mother and assured her that he would work with his friends to clear the bill and ensure her son received the necessary care.
“I have told Ng’eno’s mother that we will take care of the bill. Together with my friends, we will settle the matter and ensure that her son, who is in hospital, is taken care of,” he stated.
During the visit, Gachagua also promised to construct a mausoleum for the late Johana Ng’eno and directed designers to prepare a suitable design.
The DCP leader further said he had taken food from his farm to the family, including several sacks of agricultural produce.
“As a son of the Mountain, I was honoured to share some of my agricultural produce with Mama Mary Temas, symbolising the continued bond and friendship that no one can break.
Once again, we extend our deepest condolences. May God comfort you, Mama,” Gachagua disclosed.
Gachagua had also accused the government of abandoning Mama Temas and her family, claiming that no state official had offered assistance towards settling the medical bill.
He further alleged that efforts had been made to prevent him from visiting the Ng’eno family.
Despite the claims, Gachagua said he managed to visit the family and thanked local residents for ensuring his safety during the visit.
The death of Paul Ng’eno now comes as the family mourns another loss linked to the Ng’eno family, following the death of Johana Ng’eno, the former Emurua Dikirr MP.
