Amid a rise in road crashes across Kenya, it is important for drivers to understand traffic offences and associated penalties.

Motorists who fail to wear a seat belt are fined Sh500, while using a mobile phone while driving attracts a Sh2,000 penalty.

Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators who pick or drop passengers outside authorised stages face a Sh3,000 fine, while passengers boarding or alighting outside designated stops are fined Sh1,000.
