Last call as KMTC closes March 2026 admission deferment window

Time is running out for hundreds of students admitted to the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for the March 2026 intake, with the institution warning that those who fail to defer their admission by the end of Monday, July 13, could forfeit their places.

In a notice issued on Monday, the college said the deferment window closes at the end of the day and urged all applicants who were unable to report for the March intake to submit their requests without delay.

The opportunity is only available to students who had already received admission letters for the March 2026 intake but could not join the institution for different reasons.

KMTC directed the affected applicants to lodge their deferment applications through the KMTC Admissions Portal before the deadline lapses.

The college also advised students against waiting until the final hours, saying late applications could be affected by delays or technical problems.

"Don’t wait until the last minute. Take action now," the notice read in part.

The reminder comes shortly after the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) dismissed a notice circulating on social media that falsely claimed to announce the opening of first-time and subsequent KMTC loan applications for the 2026/2027 academic year.

According to HELB, the fake notice, dated June 28, alleged that KMTC students would begin submitting loan applications from July 15 and included contact details that are not linked to the loans board.

HELB urged students and members of the public to ignore the notice, saying it did not originate from the agency.

"The KMTC loan application notice circulating online is FAKE and was not issued by HELB. Always verify all communication through HELB’s official channels only," the board said.

The agency also cautioned the public against using one of the phone numbers appearing in the fake notice, saying it is not associated with HELB.

"Please note: 0711 052 400 does NOT belong to HELB. Do not use this number for any HELB enquiries or services. Stay vigilant. Verify before you trust," the board added.
