Kalonzo emphasized that the values of the Odinga family have guided the opposition for decades and remain central to their political work. He praised the unity within ODM, Wiper, and allied parties, crediting their cooperation with holding the government accountable.

Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has called on the nation to face its past wrongs, insisting that justice cannot be separated from the painful experiences of those who supported Raila Odinga during the 2023 and 2024 protests.

He spoke on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the funeral of Beryl Odinga in Bondo, where a gathering of opposition leaders came to console the family.

Kalonzo was accompanied by DAP–Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, who earlier voiced support for Oburu Oginga’s push to fully implement the NADCO report. Both leaders emphasized that their presence was part of the United Opposition of Kenya’s solidarity with the Odinga family.

Wamalwa reminded mourners that three members of the NADCO dialogue team were attending and highlighted the need for justice for victims of police brutality.

In his address, Kalonzo linked the ongoing discussions around NADCO to Kenya’s long struggle for democratic reforms. Reflecting on his political journey alongside Raila Odinga, he said:
“Kwa sababu tumeambiwa kwamba tuangazie haswa kitendo ambacho kimetulete hapa. Lakini hivi karibuni, mimi nitazungumza juu ya Kalonzo na Raila Odinga. Ni tazungumza ili kwamba niongee initoke. Kwa sababu mimi sitavumilia kuona jamii ambayo imedulumiwa miaka yote.”

He added that their fight for justice has always sought to benefit all communities, citing the history of political assassinations such as JM Kariuki and the student activism of the 1970s as defining moments in shaping their political awareness.

Kalonzo directly addressed Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, highlighting unresolved matters in the NADCO report.
“Tulikuwa na ye katika NADCO… One of the things we say, kwamba wale watoto waliuawa in 2023, over 73 of them… ata kabla ya Gen Z in 2024, ni lazima watoto hawa walipwe rithaa.”

He made a powerful declaration regarding accountability:
“You know… I’m waiting to see justice done. Because Raila na mimi karibu tuuawe na Martha Karua in 2023. And our people died. So we cannot… tusije tukakumbatia vitu ambavyo vita kuja kudhulumu the values.”

Kalonzo emphasized that the values of the Odinga family have guided the opposition for decades and remain central to their political work. He praised the unity within ODM, Wiper, and allied parties, crediting their cooperation with holding the government accountable.

Concluding his speech, he reaffirmed the opposition’s commitment to justice for the victims of the 2023 and 2024 protests and full implementation of the NADCO report:
“The values that hold us together are so deep that they cannot be wished away… May the good Lord rest the soul of our sister Beryl in eternal peace.”
