The Public Service Commission (PSC) has opened applications for 131 vacancies across public universities, government ministries and the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), with the biggest share of the positions set aside for aspiring diplomats.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the commission invited qualified Kenyans to apply for the available positions, which range from senior leadership roles in public universities to technical and professional jobs in government, as well as an appointment to the NG-CDF Board of Directors.
The largest recruitment targets the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where PSC is seeking to recruit 100 Foreign Service Cadets/Third Secretary Cadets at CSG 11. The positions account for the bulk of the advertised vacancies as the government moves to strengthen staffing in the country's diplomatic service.
The commission has also advertised several senior positions in public universities. They include one Vice Chancellor position at Bomet University, one Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Planning) at the Technical University of Mombasa, one Principal position at Kabarnet University College, one Deputy Principal (Academics, Research, Extension and Student Affairs), and one Deputy Principal (Administration, Planning and Finance).
Also advertised is one vacancy for a Member of the Board of Directors of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund under the Ministry of the National Treasury and Economic Planning.
Other openings include five Hospitality Officer II positions under the State Department for Correctional Services at CSG 11 and 20 Instructor III positions at CSG 12.
PSC said the vacancies are open to qualified candidates who meet the requirements for the respective positions and encouraged eligible Kenyans to submit their applications.
The commission directed applicants to use its official website, where details of all the advertised positions and the application procedure have been provided.
According to the commission, the recruitment seeks to fill vacancies in public institutions and improve service delivery across different sectors of government.
PSC, whose vision is "A values-driven citizen-centric public service" and whose mission is "To ensure an efficient, effective, ethical and inclusive public service for delivery of quality services to the citizenry," urged applicants to rely only on official communication throughout the recruitment process.
The commission also warned the public against fraudsters pretending to be PSC officials and asking job seekers for money.
"Caution: Beware of fraudsters soliciting for bribes from the public while masquerading as Commission staff. Public Service Commission does not charge any fee for job applications, shortlisting, interviews or appointments," the commission said.
PSC reiterated that all applications should be submitted through its official website and stressed that no payment is required at any stage of the recruitment process.
The latest recruitment drive presents opportunities in university leadership, public sector governance, diplomacy, correctional services and technical training, with the 100 Foreign Service Cadet positions forming the largest part of the exercise.
