The suspect was arrested in an intelligence-led operation at Jacaranda Hotel in Nairobi's Westlands area by detectives from the DCI Headquarters Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU). The arrest followed investigations into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of the prime parcel of land located along Mua Park Road in Muthaiga.
Magistrate Nyabando also directed investigators to carry out the investigations without unnecessary delay, noting that the detention order had been issued solely to facilitate the completion of the inquiry.
According to investigators, security guards on duty quickly turned their attention to a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number KDT 122Q, which was parked nearby with two occupants whose behaviour raised suspicion.
Kaguchia was taken into custody on Monday before being escorted to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters. He was later moved to Kamukunji Police Station, where he remained overnight awaiting further action.
Following his arrest, the suspect led detectives to his rented house where officers recovered 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Regional DCI Commander Daniel Kandie confirmed Kaguchia would be taken to the agency's Valley Road offices in Nairobi for questioning.

In a statement on Sunday, the DCI said the unit assumed control of the case after a report was made at Mlolongo Police Station on July 27, 2026. The agency said investigations are ongoing and pledged to keep the public updated as significant developments emerge.
During the operation, detectives recovered mobile phones believed to have been used to facilitate the alleged fraudulent M-Pesa transactions. They also recovered two pangas that investigators suspect were used during the commission of the offences.
Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, assisted by pathologist Bernard Midia, carried out the examination and said the gunshot wounds caused serious injuries to the head and chest, leading to severe blood loss.
The reports, which include an alleged attack at her Mlolongo residence and another encounter involving a man believed to be armed, have now become part of the homicide investigation as detectives seek to establish whether they were linked to Wednesday's killing.
The agency said investigators have pursued multiple leads through witness interviews, forensic examinations and targeted operations aimed at identifying those responsible for the killing.
