Ortiz faces multiple charges, including ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.

A 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida has been charged with attempted murder after firing shots at the Los Angeles home of pop star Rihanna, prosecutors said.

Ivanna Lisette Ortiz allegedly drove to the singer’s mansion on Sunday at around 13:15 local time (21:15 GMT) and opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle.

No one was hurt during the incident. Ortiz is currently being held on bail set at $1.875 million (£1.395 million) and could face a life sentence if convicted.

Authorities are investigating what prompted the attack, which took place while Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were at the residence, CBS reports. Investigators say Ortiz fired multiple rounds at the home before fleeing the scene.

Her white Tesla was later found about eight miles (12 km) away at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping centre, where police arrested her.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman condemned the attack, saying: "Opening fire in any populated neighbourhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted."

He added: "This careless violence will not be tolerated in our community. Such shooters will find their next destination to be our jails and prisons."

Ortiz faces multiple charges, including ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper.

Investigators have noted a series of social media posts by Ortiz mentioning Rihanna. In one post on X, she wrote: "Are you there? ... say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I'm not at."

Video footage from the singer’s home shows suitcases being removed the day after the shooting.

Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, became a global music icon in the early 2000s with hits like Pon de Replay and Umbrella. She and A$AP Rocky share three children. Last February, Rocky was acquitted in a trial for firing a gun at a former friend, a case in which Rihanna brought their two sons to court.
