Two Indian nationals who were allegedly kidnapped shortly after arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been rescued, with three Pakistani nationals arrested in an intelligence-led operation by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.
The DCI in a statement on Friday said the victims, identified as Sandeep Sandeep and Ishwar Singh, arrived at JKIA on August 10, 2026, and cleared Immigration at about 2:50pm.
Investigations showed that the two walked out of the airport shortly after being cleared and were received by two men. The four later boarded a white Nissan Note and drove away.
Detectives from the Operation Support Unit (OSU), acting on investigative leads, traced the vehicle to a bungalow in Tumaini Estate, Nkoroi, Kajiado South.
A search of the house led to the discovery of the two victims in one of the bedrooms. According to the DCI, the men were found bound at their hands and legs and were visibly distressed.
Three Pakistani nationals found inside the house were arrested. They were identified as Shahzad Haroon, Tariq Muhammad Muneeb and Hassan Waqar.
Further investigations established that the suspects had allegedly contacted the victims’ relatives in India through WhatsApp and demanded a ransom of USD 32,000 for their release.
Detectives also recovered the victims’ mobile phones, which had reportedly been hidden in a bush about two kilometres from the house.
The three suspects remain in custody as detectives process them for arraignment while pursuing additional leads into the circumstances surrounding the incident and a suspected kidnapping-for-ransom network.
The DCI said it would continue pursuing those involved in kidnapping and ransom-related crimes.
