Volleyball: KPA crowned champions, KPC level series to force game three

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) have been crowned the men’s volleyball national league champions after defeating Chema 3-0 in game two of the finals on Saturday at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.

Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) levelled their women’s final series against Kenya Prisons after winning 3-0 on Saturday, following Friday’s defeat, forcing a decisive game three on Sunday.

Chema, who are making their debut in the top-tier national volleyball league this season, narrowly lost game one 3-2 on Friday and needed a victory on Saturday to force a final decider. However, the Juja-based side struggled in game two, losing 25-21, 25-20, and 25-18.

The victory confirmed KPA as the new men’s national league champions, marking their first-ever title in the competition’s history.

In the women’s category, defending champions KPC bounced back after losing 3-1 to Kenya Prisons in game one. They produced a dominant performance on Saturday, winning 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-18) to level the series 1-1 and force a deciding game three.

KPC will now have a chance to defend their title against a Prisons side seeking to reclaim the championship after more than five years without the crown.

The final game three will be played on Sunday at the MISC Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium in Nairobi, with the winner taking home the national league title.
