The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a scheduled 12-hour maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
According to a notice issued to stakeholders, the maintenance will begin at 6am and end at 6pm, during which the iCMS platform will be unavailable to all users.
The tax authority said the planned downtime is necessary to facilitate scheduled maintenance of the system, which is used by customs stakeholders to undertake various electronic processes related to cargo clearance and customs administration.
“KRA informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS,” the authority said in the notice.
The maintenance will affect all iCMS users, with the authority warning that the system will not be accessible throughout the 12-hour period.
The interruption is expected to affect stakeholders who rely on the electronic customs platform for transactions and other services during the maintenance window.
KRA listed the affected system as iCMS and advised users to take note of the scheduled downtime.
The authority did not provide details on the specific maintenance activities to be undertaken or whether any changes to the system would be introduced once the exercise is completed.
The notice, however, sought to prepare stakeholders for the temporary disruption and minimise inconvenience arising from the unavailability of the platform.
“During this period, iCMS will be unavailable,” KRA stated.
The authority also apologised to users for any disruption caused by the maintenance exercise.
“Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the notice said.
The scheduled maintenance comes as KRA continues to rely on digital systems to facilitate customs and revenue administration. The iCMS platform provides an electronic interface for customs-related processes involving various stakeholders in the import and export chain.
Stakeholders who require access to the system have therefore been advised to plan their activities around the maintenance period.
The platform is expected to resume operations at 6pm on Sunday, marking the end of the scheduled 12-hour maintenance window.
KRA has not indicated any further downtime beyond the period announced in the notice.
The authority’s communication was addressed to all iCMS users and other stakeholders who depend on the system for customs-related transactions.
