CFAO boosts 2026 Safari Rally with Sh48.5 million sponsorship

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony, CFAO Mobility Kenya Managing Director Arvinder Reel said the company’s involvement goes beyond financial sponsorship.

CFAO Mobility Kenya has announced a Sh48.5 million sponsorship package to support the organisation of the 2026 WRC Safari Rally Kenya set for March 12-15, 2026.

The company said the funding will help support this year’s edition of the rally, part of the World Rally Championship calendar. With the latest sponsorship, CFAO’s total investment in the Safari Rally over the past six years now exceeds Sh153 million.

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony, CFAO Mobility Kenya Managing Director Arvinder Reel said the company’s involvement goes beyond financial sponsorship.

“Our commitment goes beyond sponsorship. We are investing in the growth of motorsports and will continue to champion initiatives that nurture young talent and elevate Kenya’s rally standing on the global stage,” he said.

As part of efforts to develop local rally talent, the company has donated two rally cars to the Safari Rally Training School project.

The specially built Toyota Starlet rally cars, developed with Kenyan engineers and technicians to meet FIA Rally 5 standards, were constructed at a total cost of Sh34.5 million.

The vehicles were recently presented to President William Ruto at State House.

CFAO has also developed a prototype Cross Car aimed at promoting grassroots motorsport among young drivers aged between 12 and 17. The vehicle, built to FIA standards at a cost of  Sh3.7 million, is expected to provide a pathway for junior rally drivers to enter competitive motorsport.

“To enable growth of the sport in the country, we have also partnered with South Africa's Botterill Motor Sport to develop a rally training curriculum. A training camp will also be held for local drivers and navigators,” Reel added.

During the event, fans also had an opportunity to meet drivers from the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, including championship leader Elfyn Evans and rising Finnish driver Sami Pajari.

Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi praised the initiative, saying it would help grow motorsport talent in the country.

“I would like to commend CFAO Mobility Kenya for their investment in strengthening grassroots motorsport in the country. Their donation of two Toyota Starlets, support in developing the Rally Academy training curriculum, and commitment to producing Kenya’s first affordable FIA Cross Car are important steps toward building local motorsport talent and technical capacity,” he said.

The 2026 Safari Rally is expected to take place in Naivasha as part of the global WRC series.
