The murder case against Rose Mbithe Mulwa, alias Rose Mbithe Ndetei, and her two children, Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, will now move to Thursday after the court postponed their expected plea on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The three are accused of being involved in the killing of doctor Victoria Nthunya Mutiso and will remain in custody as they await their appearance before Milimani High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo.
The suspects were taken before the Milimani High Court after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) moved to have them charged with murder.
However, they did not enter a plea on Tuesday, with Milimani Deputy Registrar Adelaide Namabihi Sisenda directing that they be returned to court on Thursday, August 27, at 9 am.
The three will be held at Kileleshwa Police Station until their next court appearance.
“The first to the third suspect (Rose, Chris and Angela) will be detained at the Kileleshwa police station pending the arraignment before the honourable Judge on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 9 am,” Deputy Registrar Sisenda directed.
Sisenda further ordered that the suspects be brought before the judge for the plea and any further directions that may follow.
“The suspects are to be arraigned in court, then for further orders and for directions by the honourable Judge,” Sisenda added.
Murder case
The three are set to face charges under section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.
Dr Mutiso was killed on July 29, 2026, in Upper Hill, within Kilimani Sub-County. She was allegedly followed before unknown gunmen shot her dead.
The DCI has since placed Rose and her two children at the centre of investigations into the doctor's killing.
Investigators allege that Angela, who is a stepdaughter of Dr Mutiso, was present when Sh300,000 was allegedly handed over as payment to people who had been hired to kill the doctor.
The DCI further says the money was part of an earlier plan targeting Dr Mutiso, with the first attempted killing allegedly taking place on April 24, 2026.
“She was present on April 24, 2026, during the payment of the Ksh300,000 down payment for the deceased to be murdered, which failed to materialise,” part of the application reads.
According to the investigators, Angela's alleged involvement went beyond being present during the payment.
The DCI says its investigations indicate that she played an important role in the events surrounding the killing of the doctor.
Investigators have also alleged that Angela remained in communication with Kenneth Sang, a senior police officer whose firearm was allegedly used during the murder.
The firearm, serial number 47302127, had been issued to Sang and was later allegedly used in the commission of the offence.
The court will hear the matter again on Thursday, when the three suspects are expected to be formally arraigned before Judge Kimondo.
Until then, Rose, Chris and Angela will remain at Kileleshwa Police Station as the case moves to the next stage.
