Two detained after Offset shooting outside Hollywood casino

Offset rose to prominence as part of the Atlanta-based hip-hop group Migos, alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff. Formed in 2008 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, the group gained widespread success in the 2010s with hits such as “Versace,” “MotorSport,” “Stir Fry,” and “Walk It Talk It,” while “Bad and Boujee” became a chart-topping track that pushed them into global recognition.

Rapper, Offset is recovering in hospital after being shot on Monday evening outside a busy casino in Hollywood, Florida, an incident that drew a rapid police response, led to the detention of two individuals, and prompted an ongoing investigation into what happened at the scene.

The shooting occurred near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in the valet area shortly after 7 p.m., according to law enforcement officers who responded to reports of gunfire and an injured person. A representative for the rapper confirmed his condition, stating, “We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care,” and added, “He is stable and being closely monitored.”

Officers from the Seminole Police Department said they arrived quickly and managed to bring the situation under control. In their statement, they noted that they responded to “an incident that occurred at a valet area after 7 p.m. Monday outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood that resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an individual who was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.”

Police further confirmed that two people were taken into custody in connection with the incident. They assured the public that there is no ongoing danger, saying, “The situation was contained quickly,” and adding, “The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”

At the time of reporting, authorities had not shared details on what may have triggered the shooting, and it remains unclear whether others were involved. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident as the case develops.

By 2022, the group had largely moved in separate directions, although no official split was announced. Around that time, Quavo and Takeoff released a joint project titled Only Built for Infinity Links without Offset.

Offset went on to build a solo career, releasing songs including “Ric Flair Drip,” “Clout” featuring Cardi B, and “SAY MY GRACE” featuring Travis Scott. His personal life has also remained in the spotlight, including his relationship with Cardi B, with whom he shares three children, along with other children from previous relationships.

The latest incident also comes after the death of Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, who was fatally shot in November 2022 outside a bowling alley in Houston at the age of 28. His death sparked widespread reactions across the music industry. In May 2023, Patrick Xavier Clark was charged in connection with the killing and is scheduled to stand trial on November  9, 2026.

Following the shooting involving Offset, attention has once again turned to the group’s legacy and their roots in Atlanta’s music scene, as well as the regular movement of artists between Atlanta and South Florida, a region known for hosting entertainment events and nightlife activity. Authorities have not indicated any continuing threat as the investigation continues.
