Three senior officials in the energy sector have been arrested over claims of handling substandard fuel, sparking fresh concerns nationwide.
Among those arrested are Petroleum Principal Secretary Mohamed Liban, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Director General, Daniel Kiptoo and Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director (KPC) Joe Sang.
According to reports, the officials were arrested on April 2, 2026, by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
