Kalonzo vows honest leadership if elected President, rules out politics of handouts

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has pledged to champion honest leadership and reject what he described as politics driven by handouts, empty promises and the misuse of public resources, saying Kenyans deserve a government that serves them consistently rather than only during election campaigns.

In a message shared on his X account on Monday, Kalonzo said the country needed a new style of leadership anchored on integrity, accountability and fairness. He pledged to restore public trust, strengthen institutions, and ensure equitable development if elected.

The Wiper leader explained that the country had reached a point where voters no longer wanted leaders who only remembered them during election periods.

"Kenyans are tired of being remembered only at election time. They want a government that serves them every day, not one built on handouts, empty promises, and the misuse of public resources for political gain," he said.

The opposition leader outlined that he had listened to the concerns raised by wananchi(Kenyans) and committed himself to ensuring that such practices would not continue under his leadership.

"I have heard you, and I give you my word: this will not happen again," he added.

According to Kalonzo, his vision is to build a nation anchored on integrity, accountability and fairness, where development would be shared equitably across the country regardless of region.

He illustrated that every Kenyan deserved equal treatment and access to opportunities.

"Together, we will build a nation founded on integrity, accountability, and fairness, where every region gets its fair share of development, and every Kenyan is treated with the dignity they deserve," Kalonzo said.

He also pointed to his previous role in government, saying his experience working alongside former President Mwai Kibaki demonstrated his ability to help steer the country through periods of stability and economic growth.

"I have done this before. Together with President Mwai Kibaki, I helped lead Kenya through a season of stability, growth, and shared prosperity. I am ready to do it again," the ex-VP said.

He further pledged to prioritise rebuilding public confidence in leadership and strengthening state institutions, saying governance should focus on service delivery rather than political interests.

"Together, we will restore trust in leadership, strengthen our institutions, and put service before politics," Kalonzo said.

The Wiper official maintained that the time had come for honest leadership and urged Kenyans to support his campaign platform and political movement.

He called on supporters to join what he described as a collective effort to "Komboa Kenya" and rally behind his vision of restoring integrity, accountability and fairness in governance.

The statement forms part of Kalonzo's continued messaging ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the Wiper leader positioning honest leadership, institutional accountability and equitable development as central pillars of his political agenda.
