Former Nairobi Governor and NEDP Party leader Mike Sonko has appealed to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to remain firmly in the opposition, urging him not to enter into any political arrangement with President William Ruto as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather momentum.
Addressing opposition leaders during a meeting at the SKM Centre on Thursday, Sonko said many Kenyans are looking to Kalonzo to lead the push for change, adding that the next presidential election offers him what he termed his final opportunity to seek the country's top seat.
"Kalonzo Musyoka, we are behind you. Do not disappoint us, and don’t join them. We will support you to the end. Your Excellency, remember this is your last bullet in politics to become President," he said.
The remarks come at a time when opposition leaders are holding a series of consultations as they work towards building a united political front ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sonko said he shares the same vision with other leaders who have continued to push for what they believe are the interests of ordinary Kenyans.
"I am with the wananchi, and you have also been championing the same cause. We are pushing the same agenda together with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino," Sonko said.
He added that he remains committed to working with like-minded leaders as discussions on cooperation and coalition building continue ahead of the next polls.
The meeting at the SKM Centre brought together several opposition leaders as talks on strategy and possible alliances continue to gather pace in preparation for the 2027 General Election.
