Matiang’i said his appointment as deputy party leader is focused on reconnecting with supporters and reviving the principles upon which Jubilee was founded, rather than seeking personal accolades.

Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee Party’s presidential hopeful, has promised to carry forward the vision of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, committing to restore the party’s unity and strengthen its grassroots reach ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking to Jubilee delegates at Thika Greens in Murang’a County on Friday, Matiang’i described his ten years serving under Uhuru as a period that shaped his understanding of leadership, teamwork, and service to the public.

“I have learnt a lot under Uhuru Kenyatta as his Cabinet Secretary for ten years. I will work with leaders to ensure your legacy continues. We will speak to our people and make Jubilee bigger,” Matiang’i said.

The gathering, which included Uhuru, party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, and former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura, was one of the most significant meetings of the party’s senior figures since the 2022 general elections.

Matiang’i said his appointment as deputy party leader is focused on reconnecting with supporters and reviving the principles upon which Jubilee was founded, rather than seeking personal accolades.

“Jubilee will continue to serve all Kenyans without discrimination or insults. We are here to restore dignity to politics and rebuild a party that unites rather than divides,” he stated, underscoring the importance of respect, inclusion, and discipline within the party.

He outlined plans to prioritise unity, structured leadership, and empowerment of communities at the grassroots level, stressing that Jubilee must remain a beacon of hope and reliability in Kenya’s political landscape.

“We will deliver the next government to make you proud and work with other members of the united opposition to offer Kenyans a credible alternative,” Matiang’i affirmed.

Kioni described Matiang’i’s rise as a clear sign of generational renewal, emphasizing that the party is embracing a new era of strategic leadership, organisation, and political education aimed at bridging divisions across the country.

“We are ready to unite the country and work as a team,” he said, highlighting the party’s commitment to internal democracy and collaborative initiatives with allies sharing the same vision.

Former Senator Kembi Gitura encouraged members to fully support Matiang’i and Uhuru, describing the pairing as a combination of seasoned experience and fresh dynamism that could steer Jubilee toward a strong revival.

The Thika assembly was part of Jubilee’s broader national reorganisation plan designed to rebuild connections with its grassroots, particularly in the Mt Kenya region.

Matiang’i’s entry into the party’s top leadership marks a crucial step in Jubilee’s resurgence. With his presidential candidacy for 2027 confirmed, Matiang’i’s long-standing experience and close ties with Uhuru provide continuity while also bringing in new energy for the party’s next phase.
