Kenya is among the countries whose nationals will enjoy visa-free entry to Uganda under new visa exemption arrangements announced by Uganda Immigration under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The policy allows travelers from several nations and regions, including Rwanda, Ireland, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates, to enter Uganda without obtaining a visa in advance.
In a public notice, the immigration authorities said the measure forms part of Uganda’s broader visa exemption arrangements aimed at easing travel and strengthening ties with partner countries.
“Nationals from the countries and regions listed above are not required to obtain a visa prior to travelling to Uganda, in accordance with Uganda’s visa exemption arrangements,” the statement said.
According to the notice, the visa-free policy applies to a wide range of countries across Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and the Pacific. Among those listed are Botswana, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Singapore, South Sudan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Several Caribbean and Pacific island states are also included, such as Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.
Ugandan authorities say the arrangement is designed to support travel, trade, and cooperation between Uganda and its partners.
“This provision facilitates smoother travel and reflects Uganda’s continued commitment to promoting regional integration, tourism, trade, and people-to-people connectivity,” the statement added.
The immigration department further clarified that the exemption also applies to travelers holding Conventional Travel Documents (CTDs).
“Nationals from visa-exempt countries with Conventional Travel Documents (CTDs) issued by any country are also visa-exempt,” the notice stated.
Officials say the policy highlights Uganda’s strategy of positioning itself as a more accessible destination for tourists, investors, and regional travelers. By easing entry requirements for multiple countries, authorities hope to strengthen cross-border mobility and deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation.
The announcement was issued through Uganda Immigration under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the government urging travelers to rely on official immigration channels for accurate and up-to-date travel information.
