Babu named best MP as Politrack Africa ranks top Kenyan leaders

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino emerged as the best MP, while Kisii Governor Simba Arati topped among county chiefs. The rankings highlight accountability, service delivery, and leadership across Kenya’s political landscape.

Politrack Africa on Thursday released its latest leadership performance rankings, recognising top-performing Members of Parliament, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and governors.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino emerged as the best MP, while Kisii Governor Simba Arati topped among county chiefs. The rankings highlight accountability, service delivery, and leadership across Kenya’s political landscape.

Babu with a score of 68.4%  followed closely by Nabii Nabwera of Lugari and Patrick Makau of Mavoko, who tied in second place with 67.7%.

In third place were Ndindi Nyoro of Kiharu, Francis Kuria Kimani of Molo, and James Githua Wamacukuru of Kabete, all scoring 65.2% in the survey.

The rankings were released alongside remarks from Babu Owino during the awards ceremony held at Serena Hotel. Reflecting on the recognition, the lawmaker said, “I was deeply honored to be recognized as the Best Member of Parliament in Kenya.”

He added that the award reflected collective effort rather than individual success. “This achievement is not mine alone, it belongs to the people I serve, whose trust and support continue to inspire my work every day,” he said.

The MP also linked the recognition to a broader commitment to public service, stating, “My performance track record reflects a shared commitment to progress, accountability, and meaningful service.”

He emphasised that leadership should prioritise service delivery over status. “Leadership is not about titles, power, or positions, it is about service. And I will continue to serve with integrity, humility, and unwavering focus on the people,” he said.

Beyond Parliament, the Politrack Africa survey also assessed the performance of Woman Representatives. Rahab Mukami was ranked as the top-performing Woman Representative in the country. She was followed by Beatrice Adagala in second place and Betty Maina in third.

In the executive arm of government, the rankings showed a tie at the top among Cabinet Secretaries.

John Mbadi and Geoffrey Ruku shared the top position as the best-performing Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto’s administration.

They were followed by Kipchumba Murkomen in second place and Opiyo Wandayi in third.

Among Principal Secretaries, Raymond Omollo topped the rankings, with Elisha Mwangi coming in second. Alex Wachira and Julius Bitok tied in third place.

At the county level, Simba Arati was ranked as the best-performing governor during the Starleaders awards ceremony. He was followed by Anne Waiguru and Wavinya Ndeti, who tied in second place.

Third place was shared by Ahmed Abdullahi, who also chairs the Council of Governors, and Patrick Ole Ntutu.

The Politrack Africa rankings provide a snapshot of perceived performance across Kenya’s leadership landscape, highlighting individuals who have stood out in legislative work, executive management and county governance.

While the survey reaffirms achievements in public service, it also reflects increasing public interest in accountability and measurable results from elected and appointed leaders.
