The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a temporary shutdown of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) this weekend to carry out upgrades aimed at boosting system reliability, speed, and security. The Authority has called on importers, exporters, clearing agents, and other stakeholders to act promptly to avoid disruptions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, KRA said the maintenance will start on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 6 pm and continue until Monday, April 6, 2026, at am. During this period, all operations that depend on iCMS for customs clearance will be suspended.
The Authority said the exercise is designed to deliver better system performance, reduce downtime, strengthen security measures, and improve overall user experience. It urged all users to plan ahead and complete urgent submissions before the system goes offline.
“Pre-lodge documents by submitting urgent declarations, completing payments and clearing cargo before the scheduled downtime,” the notice reads.
KRA also recommended prioritising the clearance of perishable goods and time-sensitive shipments ahead of the scheduled outage to prevent losses.
The upgrade is expected to bring multiple benefits, including faster processing times, fewer system interruptions, improved reliability, and easier future maintenance. KRA acknowledged that the temporary closure may cause inconvenience but thanked stakeholders for their cooperation as it works to improve service delivery.
The Authority added that customer support will remain accessible throughout the maintenance via Twitter, Facebook, telephone, mobile, and email.
