Kitale to host National Tong-IL Moo-Do Junior Championship

The Kenya Tong-IL Moo-Do Federation (KTMF) will host the National Tong-IL Moo-Do Junior Championship in Trans Nzoia County, a two-day event scheduled for July 18–19, 2026, at St. Ursula Primary School in Kitale.

The championship will serve as the qualification pathway for the 13th Mombasa Open Tong-IL Moo-Do International Martial Arts Championship.

Announcing the event on Tuesday, KTMF said this year's championship is expected to be the most competitive youth martial arts gathering of the season, with podium finishers earning qualification for the Mombasa Open in December.

"Young athletes representing various counties across Kenya will travel to Kitale to stake their claim as national champions while fostering inter-county friendship, discipline and unity through sport," KTMF said in a statement.

"Every participant will be competing for top honours, with outstanding performers walking away with medals, trophies and official certificates," the federation added.

The championship will provide a platform for boys and girls across three educational levels: Primary School, Junior Secondary School (JSS), and Senior School.

Competitors from all coloured belt ranks will showcase their skills, determination and discipline in three core categories:

• Sparring – Controlled, tactical combat.

• Forms – Precise and artistic demonstrations of traditional techniques.

• Special Techniques – High-flying kicks, breaking techniques and weapons application performances.

Podium finishers in Kitale will earn direct qualification to the 13th Mombasa Open Tong-IL Moo-Do International Martial Arts Championship in Mombasa this December, where they will compete alongside elite martial artists from around the world.
