Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has urged Kenyan troops deployed in Somalia to remain steadfast, disciplined, and committed, praising their bravery and dedication as the festive season approaches.

Speaking to personnel serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission (AUSSOM) in Kismayo, she said, “The discipline, bravery, and unwavering commitment of our soldiers do not go unnoticed. Your service exemplifies the values of responsibility, service, and solidarity that define the Kenya Defence Forces."

Accompanied by Lieutenant General David Ketter, Commander of the Kenya Army, CS Tuya expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices soldiers make, especially when stationed far from home.

She highlighted that their role is critical in advancing regional peace and stability, often under difficult and risky conditions.

She also acknowledged the families of the deployed personnel, recognising their resilience and the weight they bear.

“My visit is in solidarity, and to express deep gratitude to the men and women serving far from home and to their families who bear the weight of sacrifice with resilience and grace," she said.
