UDA sets September 26 for ward-level grassroots elections in three counties

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced September 26, 2026 as the date for ward-level grassroots elections in Bungoma, Tana River and Kericho counties.

In a notice issued by the party’s National Elections Board (NEB), the elections will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 8am to 5pm.

The exercise will target eligible grassroots polling centre officials seeking to contest for ward-level positions. “The UDA National Elections Board hereby gives notice to all eligible Grassroots Polling Centre Officials intending to contest for Ward-level positions,” the notice states.

The party said the elections are part of its grassroots organisational activities in the three counties.

The candidate registration portal opened on Thursday, September 3, and will remain open until Friday, September 18, at 5pm.

UDA has directed all eligible grassroots polling centre officials who intend to contest to complete the registration process within the stipulated period.

“Candidate Registration Portal shall open on Thursday, 3rd September, 2026 and close on Friday, 18th September, 2026 at 5:00 p.m,” the notice states.

The party will conduct verification of candidates on Saturday, September 19, ahead of the elections.

UDA National Elections Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura signed the notice dated September 3, 2026.

The notice was addressed to eligible grassroots polling centre officials, party members and other stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

The party has urged those eligible to participate in the process to adhere to the timelines set by the National Elections Board.

The September 26 exercise will take place across the three counties of Bungoma, Tana River and Kericho.

The announcement comes as UDA continues preparations for its grassroots elections and efforts to strengthen its structures at ward level.

The party has branded its activities under the slogan “Kazi ni Kazi.”

The National Elections Board said the registration and verification stages would precede the voting exercise, giving candidates time to complete the required process before the election date.

Eligible officials seeking ward-level positions are therefore required to register by the September 18 deadline.

Those whose details are subject to verification will undergo the process on September 19, one week before the elections.

The party’s notice did not provide further details on the specific ward-level positions to be contested or the number of officials expected to participate.

The elections will run for nine hours, from 8am until 5pm, on September 26.
