Kenya Pipeline Company PLC (KPC PLC) has reassured the public that there is sufficient fuel in the country, dismissing recent reports of shortages at petrol stations nationwide.

In a statement released on 8th April 2026, the company emphasised that all its terminals and depots are well-stocked and that petroleum products meet national and international quality standards.

"We wish to assure the public that there is sufficient fuel in all of our terminals and depots, and that the products meet the prescribed quality standards," said Pius Mwendwa, Ag. Managing Director of KPC PLC. "Our commitment to excellence ensures reliable supply across the country and the wider region."

KPC operates a 1,342-kilometre pipeline network connecting the Port of Mombasa to key inland depots in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, and Kisumu.

The infrastructure is supported by modern storage facilities with a combined capacity exceeding 1 billion litres, enabling the company to maintain strategic reserves and sustain consistent supply.

According to KPC’s stock report as of 8th April 2026, fuel availability across major terminals is robust.

The company emphasised that the continuous movement of products along the pipeline ensures that all terminals are regularly replenished, preventing localised shortages.

"The above stock position reflects robust inventory levels and sustained throughput across our network," the statement noted.

KPC further highlighted that all products distributed meet the standards set by national and international certification bodies, ensuring that consumers access safe and high-quality petroleum products.

"Our focus remains on reliability, sustainability, and quality in the supply of petroleum products," Mwendwa stated. "We continue to monitor demand trends closely to ensure uninterrupted supply across all regions."

The company operates under a mandate to support national energy security, distributing fuel not only across Kenya but also to neighbouring countries, reinforcing its role as a key player in East Africa’s energy infrastructure.

Consumers are encouraged to continue purchasing fuel normally, with KPC emphasising that the infrastructure and stock levels are sufficient to handle projected national demand.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and responsiveness, promising regular updates on inventory levels and pipeline operations.
