Senator Cherargei, taking direct aim at investigative agencies, has accused them of moving too slowly in high-profile corruption cases, saying that it allows impunity to thrive.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has commended the release of the Controller of Budget report, saying that it gives decisive action on governance and anti-corruption enforcement, where he has warned that delayed institutional responses risk undermining public trust and weakening Kenya’s transformation agenda.

The vocal senator has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to immediately extend the voter registration exercise, arguing that millions of eligible Kenyans remain locked out of the electoral process at a time when democratic participation is calling for more numbers to join the forum for registration process.

‘’I call upon the IEBC to extend the voter registration process to allow more Kenyans to register and strengthen our democracy,’’ Cherargei remarked.

Cherargei, taking direct aim at investigative agencies, has accused them of moving too slowly in high-profile corruption cases, saying that it allows impunity to thrive.

The senator argued that weak enforcement has eroded public confidence in anti-graft institutions and called for visible accountability to restore faith in the rule of law.

"I urge the EACC to fast-track their ongoing investigations and make arrests, noting that there have been no arrests so far. We must ensure those involved are held accountable and prosecuted to the full extent of the law," he said.

At the same time, the lawmaker pointed an accusing finger at the Nandi County government over the misuse of funds and corruption.

"I have consistently spoken against corruption, ghost projects, and misuse of funds within Nandi County. The Nandi payroll scandal exposed nepotism and unfair recruitment, while the cement scandal highlighted fraudulent activities," he added.

"I promise to unveil bold initiatives that will transform governance and service delivery in Nandi County, ensuring that every citizen benefits from devolution. We must confront corruption, strengthen accountability, empower our youth, support our farmers, and invest in education and healthcare."

Cherargei further called for caution on the roads during this festive season, "I wish to call upon all road users to be extra vigilant, observe every traffic rule, and drive safely so that we ensure there are no accidents or incidents and that every Kenyan enjoys their holiday in peace."
